Charles Yau, DDS, known by his patients as Dr. Charles, is one of the trusted pediatric dentists at Rye Smiles Pediatric Dentistry located in Rye, New York.
Dr. Charles was born and raised outside of Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. As the oldest with four younger sisters, he loved growing up with a large family.
After completing his bachelor’s degree in mathematical biology from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Charles received his dental degree from Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine. He then completed his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York City, where he served as Chief Resident his last year.
Dr. Charles is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, where he is a board-certified Diplomate.
Dr. Charles enjoys visiting schools, speaking about the importance of oral health, and volunteering his time at community outreach events including the Rye YMCA Derby Day, Rye Rec Turkey Run, Mistletoe Magic, and many more.
Dr. Charles and his wife Helen moved to Rye in 2018, and their four children attend Rye Public Schools. Go Osborn Bears! His hobbies include trying not to eat everything, constantly fixing his car, hoping to regrow his head of hair, and maintaining his saltwater aquarium (so far, he’s kept a pair of mated clownfish alive for 18 years!).
